Everyone is spending more time at home these days, so make sure you are as comfortable as possible and save a little money in the process. Ceiling fans are made to turn in both directions, and while most homeowners leave the fan in a “Summer” position, changing direction can have a big effect on your comfort when you are still heating your home.
A ceiling fan cooling you off in the summer make perfect sense, but turning on a fan to warm up? The key in the winter is to turn the speed to low and move the switch on your ceiling fan to make it turn clockwise. This will bring air up from the center of the fan and push air to the outside. You won’t feel the air movement like you would if the fan was spinning counterclockwise and the air being pushed to the outside brings the warm air that gathers at the ceiling down to your living space.
This little change can make you more comfortable and save you money by letting you keep your heat setting lower. So remember for these last few cool days we have to leave your fan turning clockwise. Then when it turns warmer and you need some relief from the Oklahoma humidity turn it back to counterclockwise and save on your air conditioning bills.
